The partial relaxation of social distancing measures comes into force on Thursday, after the government gazetted the new rules late on Wednesday night.

They had been flagged by the government prior to the Lunar New Year holidays, and given the final go-ahead on Tuesday with the Covid-19 situation apparently stabilising.

Among the measures, restaurants will be able to offer dine-in services until 10 pm instead of 6 pm. Some other businesses – such as gyms, cinemas, and massage parlours – will be allowed to reopen.

However, workers will need to get a Covid test every 14 days and customers will have to either use the government’s contact tracing app, known as LeaveHomeSafe, or register their contact details.

Bars which do not serve meals will not be allowed to reopen.
