The government on Wednesday said it had found 828 preliminary Covid infections thanks to overnight lockdowns and testing exercises in five residential blocks in Tung Chung, Tsing Yi, Sha Tin, Kwun Tong and Kowloon City.

Around 7,040 residents of Kit Yat House at Yat Tung (II) Estate, Chun Hin House at Ching Chun Court, Pok Man House at Pok Hong Estate, Shing Tai House at On Tai Estate and Tak Sui House at Tak Long Estate were tested for the virus.

Officials said 145 infections were found in Tung Chung, 64 in Tsing Yi, 211 in Sha Tin, 180 in Kwun Tong and 228 in Kowloon City.

The test results for 17 people in Sha Tin, 12 in Kwun Tong and 10 in Kowloon City were uncertain.

Meanwhile, officials said they also visited about 3,136 households during the operations, but nobody answered the door at 232 of them.
