Voter turnout creeps up towards 20 percent

According to the official election website, 839,563 voters had cast ballots by 3.30pm in the 10 geographical constituencies in the Legislative Council elections.

That’s a turnout rate of 18.77 percent exactly halfway through the 2021 election day.

At the same time in the 2016 Legco elections, 1,017,884 people had voted, nearly 27 percent of the then electorate. But polls opened an hour earlier that year.

Voting in the current election is scheduled to continue until 10.30pm.
