SAR reports no local Covid cases again

The government on Sunday reported one imported coronavirus case but, for the second consecutive day, there were no local Covid-19 infections.

The Centre for Health Protection said the patient is a 52-year-old woman who flew in from Argentina, and was asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the government says most of Hong Kong’s domestic helpers have complied with an order to take a Covid-19 test ahead of Sunday’s deadline.

Writing on his officials blog, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung said more than 28,000 helpers had taken tests in the first seven days of this month, with 50,000 more booked in this weekend.

The SAR has about 37,000 helpers.

Officials ordered the tests after three helpers were confirmed to be carrying a more infectious variant of the coronavirus.

Some helpers’ rights groups complained that the measure was discriminatory.
