Postal and social welfare services disrupted by Covid

The government said on Wednesday that postal services would be disrupted in Aberdeen and Tseung Kwan O after their staff tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

Hongkong Post said the cases involve a postal officer working behind the counter at the Aberdeen Post Office, and a driver at the Tseung Kwan O post delivery office.

The Aberdeen office will be closed for Wednesday and Thursday, and people are advised to go to other post offices.

Mail delivery in Tseung Kwan O, meanwhile, will be delayed as the office will be closed for Thursday and Friday.

Separately, the Social Welfare Department’s office on the eighth floor of Wu Chung House in Wan Chai has to be closed, after a staff there tested preliminary positive.

It said she has not been in touch with members of the public, and the department will make an announcement as to when the office can reopen.

There are also preliminary positive cases involving workers based in the Inland Revenue Department office in Wan Chai, the Sai Wan Ho fire station, the Lei Muk Shue ambulance depot, and the Transport Department’s office in the West Kowloon Government Offices.

But the government departments said public services will not be disrupted by these cases.
