Most HSBC outlets to stay closed every other day

HSBC announced on Friday that it was further reducing branch operating hours because of the pandemic.

The bank said all its branches, apart from three major outlets, will operate on alternate days from March 7.

“The new arrangement is designed to allow deep cleaning and disinfection of facilities as well as precautionary virus testing of relevant branch employees on non-business days where necessary,” the bank explained in a statement.

The three outlets that will remain open daily from Monday to Saturday are the Hong Kong Office Branch in HSBC’s headquarters in Central, the Kwun Tong Branch on Hoi Yuen Road and the Mong Kok Branch on Nathan Road.

As for the other branches, some will be operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, such as the Bonham Road Branch, the Festival Walk Branch and the Tsuen Wan Branch, while others, including the Causeway Bay Branch and Tin Shui Wai Branch, will open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

HSBC said tickets will be handed out at branches if needed to reduce queuing.
