More than 900 Covid cases found in lockdowns

The government on Thursday found 907 preliminary positive Covid-19 infections after testing residents of six buildings in Tsing Yi, Tuen Mun, Sha Tin, Kwun Tong and Wong Tai Sin during overnight lockdowns.

Hang Yee House at Cheung Hang Estate, Tip Yee House at Butterfly Estate, Block 6 of Po Tin Estate, Wai Sam House at Lung Hang Estate, Tin Wan House at Shun Tin Estate and Kwai Yuen House, Chuk Yuen (South) Estate were sealed off for testing on Wednesday after sewage samples there tested positive for Covid.

At Hang Yee House in Tsing Yi, officials found 61 preliminary positive cases.

In Tuen Mun, Tip Yee House reported 218 cases, while Block 6 of Po Tin Estate reported 73 infections.

In Sha Tin, 224 preliminary cases were found in Wai Sam House.

There were also 222 infections at Tin Wan House in Kwun Tong and 109 cases at Kwai Yuen House in Wong Tai Sin.

A total of 98 samples came back “indeterminate” and officials say they will follow up accordingly.

Meanwhile, authorities locked down buildings in Wong Tai Sin, Sham Shui Po, Sha Tin, Tuen Mun and Aberdeen, requiring residents to get tested after positive sewage samples were found.

They are Fei Fung House, Pak Fung House and Yuk Lun House in Choi Wan (I) Estate; Fu Hoi House and Fu Yee House in Fu Cheong Estate; Sheung Sam House in Lung Hang Estate; Tip Chui House in Butterfly Estate, Block 5 in Po Tin Estate and Wu Fai House in Wu King Estate; and Lei Yee House in Ap Lei Chau Estate;

Authorities hope to complete the operations at around noon, 1pm or 2pm on Friday. ______________________________
