Home quarantine ordered for Covid patients’ contacts

Health authorities on Thursday issued home quarantine orders for some close contacts of Covid patients, as well as people who were more indirectly linked them.

A list published on the Centre for Health Protection website shows they live in around 300 buildings across the territory.

They will be home-bound for either four or 14 days.

Authorities announced the new measure on Monday, as the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases stretched quarantine facilities in the city.

The Department of Health said building management companies and the public should take precautionary measures and maintain good personal hygiene, as well as good environmental hygiene in the properties at all times.

Meanwhile, the Home Affairs Department says it has set up a 24-hour hotline to provide support for people undergoing home quarantine.

It says the hotline has 100 lines, which may be expanded depending on the demand.

It says staff will provide general enquiry service, mark down requests, and refer cases to relevant departments for follow-up.
