Health officials reported seven new imported Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, as Hong Kong notched up 15 days in a row with no local infections.
Six of the new patients were domestic helpers arriving from Indonesia, four of whom carried the L452R mutated strain of the coronavirus.
A 51-year-old man also tested positive for the same mutated virus strain, but his travel history was listed as “pending”.
Meanwhile, flights from Jakarta operated by the airline Garuda Indonesia have been banned from landing in Hong Kong from Tuesday to July 5, after four passengers arriving on a flight on Sunday tested positive for Covid-19.
Hong Kong has recorded a total of 11,896 Covid infections so far.
