Driver dies in accident at Lok Ma Chau

Police said on Saturday that they’re investigating a fatal traffic accident in Lok Ma Chau in which a 46-year-old mainland man died.

They said that at about 10pm on Friday, a medium goods vehicle driven by the 46-year-old Mainland man was traveling along San Sham Road towards Yuen Long.

They said that the van reportedly lost control as it approached a roundabout at San Tin Public Transport Interchange, and rammed into iron railings. Despite the impact, it kept moving and only stopped after about 100 metres when it hit iron railings agaIn.

Police said the driver was trapped inside the vehicle, and was rescued by firefighters.

The unconscious man was taken to North District Hospital and was certified dead at midnight.

Police said they’re investigating the accident and appealed to any witnesses to come forward.
