38mn rapid test kits procured from mainland: govt

The government said on Wednesday that it has procured more than 38 million rapid test kits from the mainland, and it has been distributing them to those in need.
 
In a statement, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said the kits are among a range of anti-epidemic resources that the SAR has received from across the border, with the support of the central government.
 
The bureau’s spokesperson said some of the test kits have been distributed to frontline anti-epidemic workers, Covid patients and those undergoing lockdowns. 
 
The spokesperson added that the central government has donated 450,000 boxes of Chinese medicine to Hong Kong, and they will be given to Covid patients at Chinese medicine clinics, as well as those currently in isolation facilities.
 
Officials added that the SAR has also received more than 70 million face masks, over 7.5 million pieces of other personal protective equipment, as well as more than 730,000 oximetres.
 
The spokesperson said the government will procure more medical resources from the mainland when necessary,
