A campaign in support of Beijing’s electoral overhaul for Hong Kong says it has received nearly 2.4 million signatures backing the national legislature’s move.
The convenor of the campaign, Tam Yiu-chung, said they didn’t count overseas signatures or those who put their names down repeatedly.
Tam, the only Hong Kong delegate to the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, said the signatures represented the views of a fairly large number of people in the SAR. He said getting more than two million people to sign in around 10 days was no small feat.
