Among the new cases, the number of PCR positive infections fell to a two-week low of 8,628, while 13,022 people had notified the government that they tested positive for Covid with rapid test kits.
Asked if this wave of outbreak had passed its plateau, Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said the number of infections on a single day could not show the full picture.
She said the daily caseloads had been fluctuating, therefore, officials needed a few more days to observe the trend.
More than 980,000 people have so far been confirmed with Covid in the latest outbreak.
Meanwhile, the Hospital Authority (HA) said 202 Covid patients died over the past day.
One of them was a 49-year-old patient who was otherwise healthy and was double-jabbed in August.
She was admitted to a public hospital with respiratory failure on March 14, and died two days later.
The case has been referred to the Coroner’s Court.
The HA also reported 87 deaths that occurred earlier.
A total of 4,923 Covid patients have died amid the latest wave of infections.
Meanwhile, the HA also announced that from Friday, Covid patients could make bookings via its mobile app to see a doctor at one of its designated clinics.
