Tai Po lockdown finds three preliminary Covid cases

Health officials on Wednesday found three preliminary positive cases of Covid-19, following an overnight lockdown at Serenity Villa in Tai Po Tau, Tai Po.

The building had been cordoned off on Tuesday evening, after sewage samples returned positive results for the coronavirus.

Residents were told to take Covid tests at temporary testing points set up within the restricted area. Most were able to leave at 10 am on Wednesday, on production of negative test results.

The government said 634 people had been tested during the exercise.

Earlier, a separate overnight lockdown at Tung Moon House on Tai Hang Tung Estate in Sham Shui Po revealed a preliminary positive Covid case and an indeterminate one.

Meanwhile, concern is mounting over the number of new unlinked cases circulating in the community. Hong Kong recorded 22 such cases on Tuesday, the highest number since the fifth wave of infections began.
