Carrie Lam to head to Beijing for duty visit

Chief Executive Carrie Lam will leave Hong Kong for Beijing on Monday evening for the final duty visit this term of her office, to report to state leaders on the SAR’s latest economic, social and political situation.

The announcement came just a day after Hong Kong held the first revamped Legislative Council elections, after the central government introduced changes to make sure only patriots rule the city.

Her duty visit is expected to conclude on Thursday.

Lam will be accompanied by the director of the chief executive’s office, Chan Kwok-kei.

Chief Secretary John Lee will be the acting CE when Lam is in the capital.

Lam delivered her last work report to state leaders virtually in January due to the coronavirus pandemic.
