The High Court on Monday dismissed an appeal filed by a man who was sentenced to five-and-a-half months in prison for possessing cable ties almost two years ago amid the social unrest.
A three-judge panel at the Court of Appeal said it did not find it reasonable for Chan Chun-kit to be carrying 48 six-inch-long zip ties on November 2, 2019, in Causeway Bay.
Chan, a real estate agent, was convicted of possessing an offensive weapon or other instrument fit for unlawful purposes and sentenced last year. He was appealing against both the conviction and sentence.
